Chocgoji: Chocolate-covered Wolfberries Review

WHAT IS IT: Chocgoji: Chocolate-covered Wolfberries

THE PRODUCT(S):

Chocgoji: Chocolate-covered Wolfberries: Goji berries, also known as wolfberries, have been prized for their large composition of macro-nutrients. Possessing a high level of antioxidants, essential amino acids and vitamins A and C, the nutritional benefits of the Goji berry outshines fruits such as oranges, cranberries and carrots.

Known to the Chinese speaking market as 枸杞子 (gǒuqǐzi), the Goji berry is used in oriental soups for its sweet undertones and TCM properties, which is believed to be beneficial to the eyes, liver and kidney.

Having the dried Goji berry covered in chocolate increases visual and appetite appeal, as well as increasing the overall anti-oxidant levels in the product. ChocGoji brings together the best of both worlds, a snack that is tasty and nutritious at the same time. The snack aims to appeal to all ages, from busy PMEBs in need of a quick snack, to children who are fussy eaters.

Those are real wolfberries a.k.a goji inside the chocolate!!

VERDICT: To be honest, I am not really a fan of strange concoctions any time, before, now or later. But when this little craze called Chocgoji hit Singapore, I figured it would be a healthy craze. You see, Wolfberry a.k.a goji (枸杞子) as old folks mostly know it by, has a sweet and neutral properties and is used for treating the kidney, lung and liver. And it tastes great in Chinese soups and certain Chinese dishes, in which my particular favorite happened to be Chinese Herbal Chicken. Despite Wolfberry looking like dried fruit(s) on most occasions, it is preferably used more as a herb instead.

Just the benefits of Wolfberry is almost endless, and some of the medical function(s) for wolfberry includes:
  • Improves and regulates immune system
  • Lowers blood lipids
  • Protects liver function, prevents fatty liver
  • Contains anti-cancer properties
  • Improves white blood cell counts during chemotherapy
  • Anti-oxidant
  • Enhances memory and many more

And personally, I'm a big lover of chocolate (preferably dark chocolate) and wolfberries. And by marrying these 2 wonderful food items of mine, Chocgoji is thus born. Plus the little fact that I am prone to snacking on and off, so this Chocgoji is perfect for someone like me who have a tendency to snack a lot. As it's more healthy than snacking on the regular plain chocolate or potato chips, as Chocgoji has more vitamins than the regular orange fruit, more beta carotene than the regular carrots and higher levels of anti-oxidants than cranberries. Let's face it, we sometimes start off on healthy snacking like carrots and fruits and ended up slowly losing interest as it's just "plain" at best. After prolonged "nomming" on stuffs like these, we just feel that we needed a little more of something to tease our taste-buds. And what better choice than this Chocgoji?

And what I am personally glad of? Chocgoji comes in 3 yummy flavors:
  • Milk Chocolate Chocgoji
  • Dark Chocolate Chocgoji
  • Sugar-free Chocolate Chocgoji

Nutrient Filled Chocolates

Premium sun-dried Goji berries (also known as "wolfberries") covered in a layer of rich chocolate, Chocgoji brings to you the best of both worlds! Prized for their nutritional benefits, Goji berries are high in antioxidants and vitamin C. Perfect as a snack between meals to give you that extra boost.

Sourced: Back of product packaging

Just perfect for most of us who may want to tone down our snacking a little. Despite all 3 being good yummy choices, I personally prefer the Dark Chocolate Chocogji as it goes really, really, aboslutely well with the wolfberries. (Arooooo~) Other flavors are good, but I just have a really fond preference for dark chocolate on most occasion. Besides, if you have children of your own who happened to be really fussy eaters who detests chinese cooking/herbs to a fanatic level. This little simple snack could be the first step in coaxing them to eat "herbs" that they may not like. Namely the goji within the chocolate, and I can foresee parents having little difficulty to get their children to gulp down healthy bowls of chinese soup with wolfberries in them if they are already introduced to Chocgoji.

For the uninitiated, Chocgoji may taste close to raisins covered in chocolate. Yet another great way to break the healthy news to friends and acquaintances of yours who aren't that fond of wolfberries. I'd say YCT Manufacturing has come up with a sure-winner, who knows how long they have "tortured" their brains and taste-buds to come up with something that makes you ponder what exactly it is and why this wasn't conceptualized earlier.

Rachel K Mineral CC Cream Review

WHAT IS IT: Rachel K Mineral CC Cream

THE PRODUCT(S):

Rachel K Mineral CC Cream: Rachel K Mineral CC Cream enhances our complexion by improving its texture and balancing skin tone. It brings forth the quality of real skin—dewy, fresh, elastic, and with a glow. It can be used with foundation, or solo.

The Rachel K range of Mineral CC cream is the only one available in a limited market that is formulated with pure minerals, making it suitable for all skin types including highly sensitive ones as the mineral ingredients do not irritate or damage the skin.

Before applying Rachel K Mineral CC Cream.

After applying Rachel K Mineral CC Cream.

VERDICT: First of all, let's take a sniff at the scent. For a start, I didn't detect any scent to this Rachel K Mineral CC Cream sample I have. Although I know I did smell something really faint, but it's not that strong to let you have a rough idea exactly what it is, essentially a scent-less CC Cream at best. And we all know that it's kinda weird to have your BB or CC Cream having some sort of scent, as our skin may be allergic to the ingredients used to make BB/CC Cream smell nice. Hence for that, kudos to this particular brand.

However, what I didn't like is the fact that it didn't really cover up my blemish scars that effectively at all. I put it on as soon as I woke up and sit around for a couple of hours, editing my images, checking my Facebook, so on, to let the CC Cream slowly blend into my skin tone. Although this CC Cream did finally blended well into my skin and make my skin looks as if I didn't wear any BB/CC Cream at all, I did see this brightening/whitening glow.

BB cream (Blemish Balm Cream) was initially used by dermatologists to help laser surgery patients protect, soothe and refine highly sensitive skin while providing light coverage for post-laser scars, acne and other blemishes. Additionally, BB cream encourages skin regeneration and helps to maintain youthful skin.

Originally formulated in Germany, BB cream has in recent years gained a huge following for its skin-regenerating properties and is now also widely used in Asia to provide natural-looking skin coverage. Korean celebrities and cosmetic companies were the first to discover BB cream and the craze for this wonder cream, which beautifies while healing, has now spread from Korea to Japan to South East Asia and is already quickly making its way to Europe and the USA.

While BB cream was manufactured primarily as a skincare product, CC cream (Color Control Cream) was developed to retain all the skincare benefits of BB cream with added nourishing ingredients and the additional aim to provide more effective skin coverage. CC cream is the newest miracle beauty product available in a limited market, and was formulated with technology originating in industry-leader Japan and further developed in Korea.

Source: Rachel K Cosmetics

Despite the comparison between regular BB Creams we can get anywhere and the benefits of Rachel K Mineral CC Cream, I did find that the only thing that didn't promise is the supposed Better Coverage expectation. I can still see my blemish scars despite hours after applying this on my face. But then on the other hand, it is definitely less oily, more whitening and brightening effects.

Definitely, this CC Cream is lighter than most BB Creams I've tried before, despite the actual product looking thicker than normal. But surprisingly, it is rather easy to apply and spread on my face/skin and it did even out my skin tone without having different colored patches on my face. I do have to give them points for evening out my skin-tone, but I'd prefer my skin tone to not only be evened out but also able to cover at least most of my blemish scars. That's what any BB or CC Cream should be capable of, but sadly with this Rachel K Mineral CC Cream, it isn't the case.

As the sample I have here can be used for 2 days tops, I thought maybe it was the weather that effect the benefits of this Rachel K Mineral CC Cream, hence I applied it on the 2nd day. Still same results. Even skin tone, glowy + dewy + brightened skin tone, but blemish scars still visible despite hours after application. And worst of all? Despite the fact that it is touted to be "water-proof", it comes off rather easily if you sweat or happened to accidentally splash water on your face. It's like a love-hate relationship with this particular CC Cream, on a personal note.

PRODUCT RATING: ✓✓

WHAT I THINK: Didn't really offer "better coverage" on my blemish scars, only even and brighten up my skin tone...

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: As soon as this sample was released around September, it got redeemed out of stock pretty fast. Maybe because Beauty Pageant queens swear by this particular brand, hence everyone is interested to try it out before paying cold hard cash for it.

However, what I can suggest is to go over to Rachel K's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Rachelkcosmetics and Like their page to be notified to newer and up-coming sample redemption. So far, I don't really recall encountering their FB page updating fans on latest samples/giveaways, but I know I occasionally "stalk" their page for latest giveaways.

The current giveaway from Rachel K's Facebook page is the Swiss Apple Stem Cell Technology: Radiance Illuminator mask. I've redeemed mine in September, so I cannot be sure if stocks are still available for redemption, but I'd wish you the best of luck in getting one :)

Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum Review

This Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum (by Seven Wonders) is proudly sponsored and brought to you by the wonderful folks at Nezon Marketing, sole distributor of Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Kindly note that no money was involved~

WHAT IS IT: Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum by Seven Wonders

THE PRODUCT(S):

Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum by Seven Wonders: Seven Wonders has harnessed the incredible qualities of Argan Oil to create a luxurious, easily absorbed skin serum rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids and antioxidants that smooths wrinkles as well as revitalizing and re-hydrating the skin to leave it looking radiant.

This Organic Argan Oil is cold pressed from the fruit of the Argan tree – native to the south of Morocco. It’s known as the “Miracle ingredient” to hair professionals and celebrities the world over. Some of it’s amazing qualities include:
  • Naturally Rich in Vitamin E, F, A & C
  • Rich in omega 6
  • Rich in Essential Fatty Acids
  • Antioxidant Properties
  • Squalene – Natural Moisturiser
  • Versatile – for use on all hair and skin types

I like the fact that this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum by Seven Wonders comes in a spray nozzle version, as this ensures that the content(s) are still hygienic to be used among friends and family members. And it's small enough to be brought out of the house as well, for those times when you need a spritz when your skin suddenly gets too dry.

The Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum is of a clear yellowish color. And known by the Moroccan Berber community as the Tree of Life, the Argan tree produces what is now termed as Liquid Gold. So, I definitely did expect to see a yellow-ish concoction to prove the "Liquid Gold" theory.

VERDICT: First of all, how on earth can I make a real verdict if I don't even mention anything about the scent? That scent, it's good and comforting and brings me sweet memories of my childhood days whenever I had to accompany my mother back to our old neighborhood (we used to live at Tiong Bahru at those old 1-room HDB flats with my late grandfather) for her once-every-three-months haircut. Taking a whiff of this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum evokes and triggers memories of scents of bygone days. And the things I do and stuffs I hoped for just to catch this scent once more again.

And also take note that pure genuine, raw, cosmetic-grade Argan Oil smells unique to the uninitiated nose. Some will think it smells a little nutty, while some says it's like popcorn. Some may even argue that pure argan oil should have a smell that is a cross between olives, nuts, and oil, but I'm guessing my nose is unique since it brings back those good old days that are so yesterday, flitting on the edge of good memories that stay and last with you personally. Even if you are someone who never learn to love that smell, the scent always disappears after a few minutes on your skin, as true Argan Oil absorbs so quickly and beautifully into your skin. Let's just say, it's a scent of pure luxury.

Don't be alarmed as (Moroccan) Argan Oil is fast becoming a fast and well-known luxury oil in the market, just the oil itself already proves so much benefits. Argan oil is definitely gaining popularity as a miracle ingredient in the Western beauty product industry. It has extremely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature aging caused by oxidation. This awesome little bottle of oil is naturally high in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, making it an excellent dietary supplement as a food source. It is also very good for the skin; vitamin E can help smooth cracked hands, knees, and elbows while nourishing the skin, and essential fatty acids can promote healthy skin as well. These wonderful benefits have made argan oil popular in cosmetics for centuries in Morocco and beyond, and small vials of the costly oil are often on offer at high-end cosmetic stores.

And I also like the fact that I can literally use it all over my body, not just the face only. If you are a regular visitor/reader to my main blog, you would have noticed a few posts about my father being involved in a traffic accident. And since one of his foot is now heavily bandaged, I've brought this wonderful little miracle oil to the hospital and applied it on his right leg and toes in particular as his lower calf and toes are really dry and peeling off in flakes. Just 1 use and I already saw his legs looking a little better as compared to 3 months ago. I personally have dry legs, cracked heels and elbows and those are the specific areas I targeted mainly while using this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum. On really cold nights, I'd apply a pump-ful for my face to ensure that my skin doesn't lose moisture overnight. My hair is already in love with argan oil treatment, I'm guessing I should pamper my skin as well, for all it's wonderful benefits.

The serum itself is rather light and it smooths onto my dry and parched skin very easily. I'm just glad and happy that I'm someone who prefers using skin serums at night, as opposed to using it during the day as I sweat easily and I do not want to nullify the effects of this miracle oil by sweating it out of my pores after application. I even took the liberty of buying arm and leg warmer, so that after applying at night, I can just wear my "limbs" warmer and ensure that my skin is getting the full serum treatment instead of rubbing it all over my bed-sheets.

As it's a small bottle, depending on which body area you are targeting, it can last quite a while if you are using it only on your face and neck. But shorter use if you had to use it all over your body, just like I did. Truth be told, I've sniffed other type of skin serums/skin oils previously and didn't like the scent, so this is something I was dying to try when I know it's going to be out in Singapore. Glad I did, as even when I didn't use this (I used this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum once every 2 nights on my face, but almost nightly on my legs), I just couldn't keep my clammy hands off it. It's a nightly sniffing ritual of me and my Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum.

The best part after using this on my face? I didn't get acne breakouts, and I am not kidding you. I'm rather prone to acne breakouts on a regular basis despite getting my 8 hours of sleep every night, feeling relaxed, blah blah and those pesky little unwanted BFF just come un-announced. But a week after using this on my face, I do noticed less breakouts, and I also love the fact that my face is giving off a much healthier glow than before. And all of this from just a small little bottle! I know for a fact that the skin on our face needs vitamin and also moisture so it doesn't gets dry, produces excess sebum, which will in turn lead to acne breakouts. But wow, this bottle just became my go-to for better looking skin with less acne breakouts in just under 1 week.

Although I cannot say much about the wrinkle-improvement department as I don't have wrinkles as of yet. Another benefit to having oily skin is that us oilies, we look younger than our supposed age. Guess there's some sort of good benefits to having oily skin after all ^^; *sheepish grin*

And if you are still not a believer of this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum by Seven Wonders, here's a small little checklist on why you should:
  • Smooths wrinkles
  • Revitalizes the appearance of skin
  • Helps slow the signs of premature aging
  • Moisturizes the skin so complexion looks radiant
  • Relieves and soothes dry skin

And the ingredients that goes into this insanely wonderful little bottle consists of pure and natural ingredients that includes:
  • Certified Organic Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Oil
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
  • Rose Essential Oil
  • Nut Oils

Which I dutifully and promptly googled high and low to ensure that what is promised on the packaging delivers. It's natural, it's certified, it doesn't contain harmful stuffs when used, and I am a believer that is graded over 9000 (if you understand that lingo ^^ ). Despite being a "argan oil skin serum", it isn't greasy at all. And all those oil on my hands, I just wished I could licked it off as well. But well, you can wash your hands as regular people do, and you don't even need to use soap at all. Just splash with water, wipe on towel, cloth or tissue and it comes off. But personally, I prefer to just leave it in my hands as well, as it can leave my hands soft and smooth.

Besides, this one is definitely a keeper as the packaging already tells us that this is one skin serum you shouldn't pass on. Why? Argan Oil sold in clear or plastic bottles makes the oil deteriorate, and any producer of quality Argan Oil wouldn’t put this liquid gold in anything other than a dark cobalt or amber glass bottle. Light breaks down the oil’s best properties and dark glass is the only way to store Argan Oil. Therefore, Seven Wonders and Nezon Marketing already passed this little personal test of mine, on top of others. And it's sold at all Watsons outlet at S$19.90 for a 20ml bottle. Dang! I want a bigger bottle already!!

PRODUCT RATING: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: Less and controlled acne flares? Luxury moisturizer for my skin? You bet I am going to get a new bottle when my current one runs out!!

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum (distributed by Nezon Marketing) previously had a contest where 5 winners with the most Likes on their comments will walk away with a bottle of this skin serum, with compliments of Nezon Marketing. Although the contest is over, but I'd still urge you to go to their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BestArganOil to be notified of future updates, like new products, new contests and giveaways.

And also, customer service is always prompt on their Facebook page, so if you had already bought a bottle and might still be confused on how to use it, their Facebook page is a great way to get help on usage and extra information on this Moroccan Argan Oil Skin Serum should you have further enquiries.

Majolica Majorca: Eye Reset Gel Review

WHAT IS IT: Majolica Majorca: Eye Reset Gel Review

THE PRODUCT(S):

Majolica Majorca: Eye Reset Gel Review: A spin-off make-up range by Shiseido, targeted at young women. An easy to use eye makeup remover in gel-type. It quickly removes any eye makeup even the stubborn waterproof types. The "non-drip" formula allows a quick make-off and wearing new makeup again easily.

Here's my take on removing eye make-up. The whitish-looking gel/cream on the left of the "eye" is the Eye Reset Gel from Majolica Majorca.

Rubbing onto the "eye", it slowly turns into a oil-like substance, effective in removing eye-based make-up.

Although the instructions says that using a tissue is best, I found that it's rather hard to remove eye make-up mistakes with only the use of a tissue paper. Whereas, using water directly or a wet-wipe, even a Q-Tip wet with water is a better solution.

VERDICT: For a fact, I tried sniffing this product, but couldn't tell exactly what type of scent it's supposed to be. Considering that there is a scent to it, but albeit a very faint one. Maybe not all eye make-up removers smell that great, hence the "low-key" scent, I guess. The good thing is that this comes with a small nozzle, so you only need to squeeze out a suitable amount to remove eye make-up mistakes, without having to fear that you over-squeezed too much and wasted it. Factor in that this is only 30g and costs S$19.90 available at all Watsons outlet in Singapore, this is going to be a pricey eye make-up remover if the amount cannot be controlled effectively, when it comes to using it. But at the same time, you only need a small pea-sized amount to remove eye make-up on 1 eye, make that 2 small pea-sized amounts for both eyes.

Also, as this product is aptly named Eye Reset Gel, there will be users who may mistakenly think or believe that this is a eye make-up remover at it's best. In reality, this is actually an eye make-up corrector through and through. For example, if you draw your eyeliner wrong or you accidentally smudge your eye make-up by mistake. Instead of having to remove everything totally and re-do your eye make-up all over again, this Eye Reset Gel from Majolica Majorca actually lets you correct a small tiny mistake without needing you to waste time re-doing your make-up all over again.

And while we are at the topic of removing eye make-up mistakes without having to re-do anything, this brings us to another issue with this Eye Reset Gel from Majolica Majorca. Despite the instructions stating that it's best to wipe away gently with a tissue paper, I personally find that it's rather hard to do so without smudging the rest of your almost-perfect make-up, and it also states that it is possible to rinse away with water. But I'm making a huge bet here that whoever's in charge of the translation didn't really try the product or it may have been translated just a tad incorrectly.

I tried using a tissue paper and couldn't wipe a targeted area off, namely the salmon-colored glitter as seen in the picture(s) above, maybe just get a little glitter on a plain white tissue paper. However, trying to remove everything by rinsing it off is a better choice as I do not need to use soap at all. Despite the product claiming that "gel type remover turns into oil for complete make-up removal". True that when I first squeezed out the gel from the tube itself, it does resemble gel, only to slowly turn into an oily texture for effective make-up removal. It definitely doesn't feel oily nor greasy, although my skin felt a little dry just less than 1 hour after testing it.

However, if you just want to remove a tiny make-up mistake (as I had mentioned), the best method would be to either use a Q-Tip or cotton bud dampened/smudged with the Eye Reset Gel and slowly and gently rub away the mistake. For mascara users, the general recommendation is to first squeeze out a small amount and applied in on your lashes and just let it do a "sit and soak" for maybe a minute or two. After that, you can just wipe your mascara-lined lashes clean with a wet cotton pad. However, if you are someone who constantly re-apply mascara throughout the day, you might want to wait a little more longer than the recommended 1-2 minutes.

The cons of this product?

If you accidentally get this into your eyes while trying to remove eye-based make-up, it although doesn't hurt nor sting, but it will no doubt freak you out a little as your vision will suddenly go cloudy and blurry. So, be warned when using this to rub off eye make-up. Another con is that there are other make-up removers out in the market that helps you remove all your make-up at one go. So, if you are just going to get this for the only sake of correcting a tiny mistake in your eye make-up, this might kill your budget a little. Unless you are someone who only wears eye-liner, like me. Which will probably works fine and good. But if I'm someone who wears full make-up, I know I will not buy this at all. But since I'm more of an eye-liner girl, I may buy this so I can remove my eyeliner only, but if given the choice, I wouldn't.

And not forgetting that a lot of rubbing is needed to remove your eye make-up. If you take a look at one of my photos above, the one with an eye drawn, with glittery eye-shadow applied. I had to rub thoroughly for close to a minute before everything is dissolved, if not, there's going to be eyeliner stains here, there and everywhere. And excessive rubbing is not good, all those wrinkles that suddenly pop up will attest to that.

PRODUCT RATING:

WHAT I THINK: Blurry eye-vision scare? Excessive rubbing? No thanks..

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: Don't recall seeing samples of this product anywhere, although you can pop by any Watsons outlet throughout Singapore and wobble over to the Majolica Majorca displays and see if there's an opened tube for sampling purposes. And considering that there's many make-up products for sampling as well, you can probably test this out on the spot without having to use your own make-up to gauge if this is effective for you.

My Scheming: Milk Extract Brightening Mask Review

WHAT IS IT: My Scheming Milk Extract Brightening Mask

THE PRODUCT(S):
My Scheming Milk Extract Brightening Mask: My Scheming Milk Extract Brightening Mask is blended with milk extract which possesses abundant butter fat, protein, vitamin A, B, E and minerals. It enhances skin’s moisture, tend to give better absorption of nutrient to prevent dry skin, and soothe wrinkles and fine lines. It refines skin, enhance luster and revive elasticity. Your skin will regain its softness, lightness and mildness.

As usual, this Milk Extract Brightening Mask from My Scheming doesn't overflap too much past my hairline, which is my personal favorite. A little's fine, but too much isn't.

And the mask mold, it has little holes. This ensures that no matter how much mask essence is inside the packaging, most of it will still go back to the mask itself since there's little perforated holes on the mold already.

Ah~~ That wonderful feeling of bliss.

VERDICT: First of all, the scent. It's appealing and has a somewhat faint milky scent to it, considering that it's called Milk Extract Brightening Mask, the milky scent is therefore expected. Well, if I cannot drink it, it doesn't mean my skin can't have a little milk pampering session. For a fact, this mask is thin enough, and this ensures that while I am using this mask, my face/skin can still "breathe" as per usual and it also adheres to your face really well. And did I mentioned that the mask essence was uber abundant? Even after I opened up the packaging and applied the mask on my face, I refused to waste the remaining mask essence that's still left in the packaging, so I just poured it on top of the mask that's already on my face. I swear it's more than the 30ml advertised on the packaging itself.

Since I have dark circles around my eyes and my eye-bags although aren't that prominent, it's still visible. On top of that, despite sleeping a little more than 8 hours, my skin still looks dull and tired. And therefore, My Scheming Milk Extract Brightening Mask comes to the rescue!!

Me: Oh noes! Dark circles, dark eye-bags, dull and tired looking skin. Whatever shall I do?

*inserts superhero background music*

Milk Extract Brightening Mask: Here I come to save the daaaaay~~~~

On top of that, who can resist the cute packaging for all of My Scheming masks? This particular Milk Extract Brightening Mask has a picture of a woman soaking in a bath-tub and a cute puppy with wings fluttering about, pouring a bottle of milk into the bath-tub. Man.. I wish I had such a cute pet at home too. Must come complete with wings and flutter and putter around the house. And also, unlike other masks I've used, the packaging for My Scheming masks aren't those cheap plastic types. It feels really velvety smooth, which is a plus in terms of marketing, which ensures non-believers like me to want to take the first plunge and buy it. Yes, I'm totally hooked on My Scheming masks already. I wish I can have all of them, except the brightening ones though. Any brighter, I will probably turn transparent since I'm already pale enough.

Despite that there seems to be more than the 30ml mask essence stated on the packaging, the excess essence doesn't drip off the mask and onto my hair and hairline. I'd dare say other masks I've used before either overlaps, drips or a mixture of these 2, which sometimes can be frustrating to the point of upsetting.

And since I am already pale enough, to literally scare the living daylights out of humans in the middle of the night. (Which I unexpectedly found out via this screaming China woman late one night as I was returning home from the nearest 7-Eleven, with my long hair down.) I didn't expect this Milk Extract Brightening Mask to brighten up my skin tone anymore. But surprise, surprise! I did found my skin tone looking a little more brighter instead of the usual dull-looking skin. In fact, I almost couldn't peel myself away from the mirror. My skin felt so much smoother and softer. And the luster part? I'm completely and totally sold already!

Now, only 1 mask left. Need to hurry down to the nearest Watsons outlet and get a new box!! And all along, I always thought milk brigthening masks won't do any miracles on my skin tone. But My Scheming proved me wrong, and that it's possible to have glowing looking skin despite being pale like a ghost :) (Glowing pale-looking woman, perhaps? lol )

PRODUCT RATING: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: My Scheming proves this misbeliever that anything is possible!

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: There isn't sample giveaways, but get this straight! My Scheming on Facebook constantly hold contests on a regular basis to reward new and existing fans, so everyone has an equal chance. And besides that, there's always more than 1 winner, so everyone's happy.

BRAND'S InnerShine® Prune Essence Review

WHAT IS IT: BRAND'S InnerShine® Prune Plus Essence

THE PRODUCT(S):
BRAND'S InnerShine® Prune Plus Essence: This is specially formulated to enhance overall inner well-being through the promotion of intestinal health, which in turn translates to clear, radiant skin. Made from premium quality California prunes, ich in dietary fibre from prune pulp and skin to promote regular bowel movement, prebiotics (oligofructose and inulin) to encourage growth of friendly gut bacteria and Vitamin C to maintain skin elasticity and radiance.

It also contains pomegranate, a good source of anti-oxidants, to protect cells from harmful free radicals in the body. one serving provides 12% of the body's daily fibre needs and is perfect supplement to one's diet. What's more, with no added sugar, colouring or preservatives, there is really no better way to nourish and cleanse your body.

It looks brownish in color, and the taste is rather concentrated. But it's more sweet than sour, and for some of us who are not used to the sourness of prunes, this is actually a good health supplement worth taking.

As most of BRAND'S InnerShine® health supplement essence such as this is rather concentrated, I tend to drink 1 bottle every 2 nights. This means I just pour out half and mix it at least half a cup of water, so it doesn't taste so "concentrated". If 1 box is enough to last 1 week, mine's enough to last 2 since I split 1 bottle for 2 days (or nights) usage instead. I always like to dump in an ice-cube to have mine slightly chilled, since Singapore's weather is so hot and sweat-inducing.

VERDICT: For a fact, I was hesitant when I first bought this. Since I occasionally have bowel troubles, and I didn't really think it would be that helpful at all. But what the heck, if it doesn't work, I could just drink it like Ribena, was what I initially planned. But after 1 bottle, I'm already falling in love with it.

Truth be told, there's way too many health supplements out in the market, with each one touting benefits that are even better than the previous ones. But the difference with this is that BRAND'S InnerShine® is a household name, and that's probably why I didn't hesitate too much to buy this instead of other health supplements. It didn't help that Bird's Nest was supposedly superior, but thinking on how bird's nest are procured just for our vanity, I think I'd feel better if I abstain from Bird's Nest to save a few more sparrows and go for this instead. No harm done to small little birdies just to look pretty, huh?

Even when you opened up the cap of the prune essence itself, you can already detect this sweet fruit scent which doesn't put you off at all. And as mentioned previously, it's a tad concentrated, so it's akin to drinking ribena without mixing with water. And if you are someone who doesn't like anything that taste concentrated, you can actually mix it with at least half a cup of water to dilute it a little. You might want to mix accordingly to your taste because if you go overboard, the entire bottle may end up being bland and tasteless instead.

The good thing about this product is that it does help a little with regards to acne. Prior to drinking this, I sometimes have pimples popping up unexpectedly. You may think it's pimples only, since it will probably go off in under 1 week. But get this straight. Mine are rather stubborn that it's a pain in the ass, it pops up, it stays on it's desired spot, refusing to ripen nor fade away. Just camping there, waiting for you to step out of the house and showcase it's existence to all and sundry. This product is almost one of the few "last resorts" in trying to get that particular pimple solved once and for all.

And I am glad to see that just close to half a week of consumption of this BRAND'S InnerShine® Prune Essence, that annoying undecided pimple finally decide to ripen and slowly turned into something yucky that I can squeeze out of my face. And I wasn't even expecting this product to do even that, as I initially thought it was more for inner health, bowel improvement only. And the best part? That pesky little pimple, after ripening and gotten rid of, the blemish scar itself fades off a little and the blemish scar isn't even that obvious on my face, unless you are standing literally right in front of me.

And at the same time, my skin tone definitely looks more even. It doesn't look as if a patch here looks dark, while another patch looks pale. It's just simply as it is, even skin tone. And bowel movements, it's been a breeze. Normally, I'd have to bring in a novel with me to the toilet. Now, it's more like "Go in, do my business, come out." Pretty straightforward for a toilet visit huh? Sure, my pimples do show up on and off, but at least for now, it does what ordinary pimple does. Which is to show up, ripen, gets squeezed out, heals and scabs. End of story. Not show, stay, then stay some more.

PRODUCT RATING: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: Smooth bowel movements, controlled pimple flares. What else can I gripe about?

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: As this has been out for quite a while, so what I can suggest is to find a few friends to split the cost with you. At least you can try a few bottles without having to overspend too much in the beginning. And if you are worried about overspending on this, you can actually drink 1 bottle for 2 nights use. Meaning, you drink half a bottle tonight and save the remaining half for tomorrow night. Especially if you don't like fruit essences that are too concentrated to gulp down.

Samples Received/Redeemed: 19 Oct - 24 Oct 2012

So, these are the samples I've received in my mailbox and redeemed personally from 19 Oct to 24 Oct. It was a terror trying to redeem the Guardian's Beauty & Health Hamper, partly due to the SMRT/SBS bus driver. Anyway, I thought I'll post this weeks' samples redemption up at least on Saturday or Sunday. But I'm afraid that will be way too much photos and may thus lag down the entire blog, so.. Enjoy~

I couldn't figure out, for the life of me, exactly where some of these was supposed to come from. Until I opened it up :x

As promised on the Facebook page, I received my:
  • Alicafe 2-in-1 White Coffee x 1
  • Alicafe 3-in-1 White Coffee x 1

Saw this brand being advertised on Television a while back, and I had to admit it does look like a really cheesy commercial. Maybe that's why I wasn't that tempted to buy it in supermarket(s). But since they were giving away 2 different pillow satchets on Facebook, I thought I'd just request for it and try to see if it's worth buying.

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: As of now, Alicafe Singapore has finished giving away sample sachets, but you won't know if they will suddenly give away new flavours. So, go on over to Alicafe Singapore's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/shouhaohe and Like their page in order to be notified of future giveaways, contests, etc etc.

Initially, I thought it was sealed. And you can use the re-seal zip after you opened/cut/tore it open, but I was so nub and wrong. It can be opened and re-sealed without having to "manhandled" the pouch at all.

The samples actually comes in a little pamphlet-pouch holder. And it introduces the other products within the same range too. Ingenious, I dare say.

Mine comes with:
  • Essential Purely Smooth Shampoo x 1
  • Essential Purely Smooth Conditioner x 1

The color of the shampoo and conditioner sample packaging looks so vanilla-like. Can't wait to try them already!!

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: Go over to the NEW Essential Sample Redemption at http://www.ksgpromo.com/es/samples/. Fill in the short questionnaire/survey, complete with your details that includes your name, email, address, etc. After that, just sit back and wait for the samples to arrive in your mailbox~

A love-hate, but actually, more towards hate than love towards the people in-charge of their Facebook page. Previously, they had this ongoing event exclusively for fans who have android phones with Instagram function. So, I commented that not everyone can afford to buy an android phone. And right after I told them that I am using an LG Ice Cream phone and that non-android users should be allowed to participate by using an external site to "instagram" their photos and they stopped replying.

Really "awesome" customer service they have there, by acting dumb. I'm just glad I never once in my life bought their hair products to use and also glad that my requested sample from them finally arrive. And I generally don't recommend my readers and fans of this blog to be such avid fans just because they seemed generous with samples when they are taking to long to mail them out. Just the customer service from their Facebook page already says so much on the way they supposedly care for their "customers" and "fans".

A pamphlet-cum-sample holder with my samples inside, and detailing their products within a single range. Not sure why it comes with a nourishing spray, maybe they felt sheepish that they ignored my comment. But I doubt they do know what"pai-seh" means, considering that my comment still get a few likes every now and then. Probably from fans who do not have android phones as well... T.T

  • Sunsilk Nourishing Soft & Smooth Nourishing Conditioner x 1
  • Sunsilk Nourishing Soft & Smooth Shampoo x 1

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: So far, they are really slow in sending out their current samples, so I'd suggest that if you had already requested, so continue to bug the hell out of them until you receive yours in the mailbox. If you are new, just wait until they come up with something to giveaway.

Go over to Sunsilk Singapore Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/sunsilksingapore and Like their page to be notified of future giveaways and contests.

Wasn't expecting much, until I opened up and felt a little sad. The box was crumpled and looks squished..

A pamphlet introducing other products within it's range, including different variety of toothpaste, why you should use Pearlie White ®, and also different products not of the toothpaste variety. Weighs 15g, so good for a chalet outing that lasts under 3-4 nights, if you brushed your teeth twice a day.

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: Apparently when I checked back, it seems that their sample giveaway is over. Yet another scenario where free things gets redeemed at such alarming speed lol

But still, to be notified of future giveaways and contests, go over to Pearlie White ® Singapore Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pearliewhite and Like their page so you can be notified if they have giveaways and contests coming up.

As stated in this previous blog post, I went down to PlanetAds instead of Guardian HQ to collect my Guardian Beauty & Health hamper which I won. Let's just say, I encountered a fail SMRT/SBS bus driver who insisted that Lorong Ampas doesn't exist because he never heard of this place.

But still, brave little me decided to hop onto his bus and go forth. Although I'm a direction-idiot, but I still trust my not-so-reliable 6th sense. Prior to hopping on the bus, I decided to look-see at the locality map and try to gauge at least how many bus-stops I have to get off the bus. So, I took a haunch for at least a bus journey that goes as far as 4-5 bus-stops and went forth.

Along the way, I caught no sight of Lorong Ampas at all, however, I saw a Jalan Ampas and decided to get off. And found myself standing in front of Shaw Plaza (which is located just beside Balestier Plaza). And after some asking around with the SAs at various shopfronts inside Shaw Plaza and Balestier Plaza, I gave up since they knew that Lorong Ampas is nearby, but undecided exactly where it is. I called and turns out, I just had to walk into Jalan Ampas (which is just between Balestier Plaza AND Shaw Plaza) and make a right turn as soon as I caught sight of Lorong Ampas. And voila!

And I unfortunately made the mistake of barging into an office space, thinking that it's the building's reception area. Only to see 10 plus tired looking faces turning to look at me at all once from their computers. Maybe glad of a sudden distraction? I finally found an elevator behind the building itself, got to the second floor and had to take a long hard look at PlanetAds small but cooling air-conditioned office. I even brought along a huge bag, but turns out the hamper was slightly bigger than my bag. So, had to ask for a plastic bag and struggled all the way home. Just glad that my bus at Yishun bus interchange wasn't that crowded at 4pm plus, so I got to hogged 4 bus seats all the way to my place.

And now, a look at the goodies in my hamper. A lot of stuffs that I wanted to try, but too stingy to spend money on. Haha~ ^^; *sheepish*

  • Mediterranean Orange Blossom Mask x 5 pieces/1 box
  • Aegean Sea Pink Rockrose Mask x 5 pieces/1 box

  • My Beauty Diary: 2012 Skin Glow All-in-One kit

My Beauty Diary: 2012 Skin Glow All-in-One kit contains 15 different masks plus additional 2-step Summer Mask pack (which I presume should be the mud mask type). I'll probably choose the ones that are right for my skin type and give the rest to my mother.

  • Kinohimitsu J'pan Bodyslen: Tea Blossom Drink

2 boxes which makes it 12 bottles (50ml each) in total. I had wanted to try this for a long time, but too stingy to pay out of my pocket ^^;

  • Kinohimitsu J'pan Mindrelax Drink

1 box, 6 bottles (50ml each). Also another product that I am too stingy to pay with my own money,

  • Block Up! Suncream SPF 30 with Aloe Vera (88ml)
  • Block Up! Suncream SPF 50 with Aloe Vera (88ml)
  • Block Up! Suncream SPF 50 Aloe Vera (88ml)

Free sunblock for when I have to go to the public library under the hot and unrelenting sun. Phew!

  • Block Up! Sunspray SPF 30 with Soothing Aloe Vera (177ml)
  • Rexona Women Powder Dry Spray with Talc Essence (150ml)

I'm currently in the suncream and sunspray fervor, so these are good when I don't want to spend too much money on preventing my skin looking like a red lobster under the Singapore sun. (Sometimes, I just feel I should be born an ang-moh char-boh, since I get red easily than I tanned..) And that Rexona spray, ah... dry comfort all day long ♥♥♥

  • DOVE Lathering Oil Makeup Remover (155ml)
  • Udderly Smooth Chamois Cream (227g)

I haven't heard about Dove's Lathering Oil Makeup Remover before, so I guess this is like a good time to try since I sometimes wear BB Cream on my face to hide my acne blemishes. And that Udderly Smooth Chamois Cream, I've been eyeing this for years already. But then, I had no idea what "Chamois" meant, so I didn't dare to buy it. Another good opportunity to try this out as well :D MoOOooOo~

  • Osteo Bi-Flex x 2 bottles/boxes (20 tablets per container)

I can give this to my parents to try it out and see if it's effective :D

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: If you are a regular buyer of Guardian's Feeling magazine, write in to them at win@feeling.com.sg. And if your letter is picked to be a winning letter, you can win this fab Beauty & Health hamper for yourself too. And to be honest, I didn't expect my letter to be picked as the winning letter. Was more or less hoping to win the BlackMores one. But well, a big Thank You to Guardian/PlanetAds nonetheless for such a fab hamper ♥♥♥

Why not like my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PuNiaosProductReviews to be informed of latest samples I found, which is duly updated? It will definitely save you the trouble of having to hunt down samples :)
